Lucy Connelly — home

About

She writes murder in the prettiest places she can find.

Lucy Connelly — who also writes as Candace Havens — is a bestselling author of more than fifty books.

Her novels have been nominated for the RITAs, the Holt Medallion, the Write Touch Reader Awards and the National Readers’ Choice Awards, and she is a Barbara Wilson Award winner.

Away from the novels she is one of the nation’s leading entertainment journalists. She reviews film and television with Hawkeye in the Morning on 96.3 KSCS, and is a former President of the Television Critics Association. She also runs online writing workshops for other writers.

She travels for the settings — a Scottish isle, an Irish harbour village, a Welsh valley, a small Texas square — and comes home for the dogs.

Two names

Lucy Connelly and Candace Havens

As Lucy Connelly

As Candace Havens

Mr. Poe, a small black dog, curled up asleep on a patchwork armchair.

The company

Mr. Poe and Elvis

Two dogs keep Lucy company through every draft. One of them — Mr. Poe — made it into the books, where he works alongside Mercy McCarthy in Shamrock Cove and is, frankly, the better detective.
